Connection.

If we are friends on Facebook, you might remember a couple months back when I posted something about this sweet family.

I was working on the boat in Maui when this family of four came on all wearing Fremont Brewery hoodies and of course I got excited, "I love that place, and Fremont in general!" After chatting and sharing our love, and appreciation of the Northwest and a bit of each of our stories- they decide to tell me they own the brewery!

Shawiinggg! Okay, immediately I turn the conversation into an opportunity mentioning I'll be moving home in a couple months. I took their card, followed up with a "so great to meet you" and left it at that.

I emailed Matt (the owner) as soon as I got back to Washington. And to my surprise, got a reply and a meeting set up the next day. I didn't know if it was an interview, if he was even hiring... all it knew was about this "mtng" and a tour of the brewery. Which I took and it was honestly so fascinating. Such a passion and detailed process goes into this stuff!

SO, we chatted for a good hour and a half. And I ended up leaving with free beer, and a full time job!

I sensed the flexibility and his trust to find the part of the company I really love the most and flourish in it. The crew here is just a solid, good spirited, awesome set of bearded and flannel wearing people. Which is something he pointed out, he said you don't need to come here with 100% knowledge of how to brew craft beer, we provide you with the education and tools to learn- I'm mostly just looking for good people.

Needless to say, I start tomorrow and I'm so overwhelmed with joy to see where I can take this.

And on a side note, I don't think it's any coincidence how this all began. Connections are everything, and timing is so silly sometimes.
